Description

In Manzaneres, Caldas, with the help of the Cooperative of Manizales the FNC opened a specific purchasing program for women coffee growers. Women received special attention at these purchasing stations, were provided with brochures outlining specific information about the program and a premium price based on quality and being part of the group. Economic empowerment for women in rural areas is the quickest and most effective way to promote gender equality in Colombia. That’s why the FNC decided to start the pilot, buying coffee from 26 women producers who own 30 farms in Manzanares, Caldas.
